Donald Cerrone vs. Nate Diaz Rumored for UFC 141

After collecting his fourth victory of the year this past Saturday, it appears Donald Cerrone (Pictured) will be back at it before the ball drops on 2011. According to MMAJunkie, The “Cowboy” has agreed to face Nate Diaz at UFC 141.

Cerrone bumped his resume to 17-3 after quickly disposing of Dennis Siver at UFC 137. At the post-fight press conference he expressed great interest in squeezing another scrap in before the year wrapped, and it appears the 28-year-old has been granted his New Year’s wish.

Although Diaz was on hand to witness Cerrone’s ever-evolving game this weekend, he ain’t scared, homie. Nick’s younger bro snapped his two-fight losing streak in impressive fashion against Takanori Gomi in his last outing.

UFC 141 takes place December 30th inside the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. A heavyweight top contender bout between Brock Lesnar and Alistair Overeem headlines the pay-per-view broadcast.

Love watching the Donald in the ring, has so much potential and is an explosive striker; should be a great match. I can tell you one thing, I don`t see Nate wanting to stand and trade with Cowboy.

I dont know, nate handled Gullards stand up, granted he took him down and choked him in the 2nd. Diaz should use his ground game to his advantage but i see nate coming out in scraping in this fight.

I see Nate coming in thinking his boxing skill will carry him to victory, and then quickly abandoning it once getting kicked too much; it should be a dynamic fight.

Nate thinks he is Nick and he isnt.

Cerrone shall be victorious.

Cerrone is dangerous on all levels. All Nate has to do is decide which way he wants to lose this fight.

It sounds like I am a huge Cerrone nut-hugger, but I do have some respect for Nate Diaz's fight game; his BJJ is great and his stand up is vastly improved. I think honestly he is best suited as a 155'er and not a welterweight like his older brother, he gives up too much weight/strength as a WW. I definitely see him landing some weak repetitive jabs on Donald but I see Donald Bloodying him up and potentially winning by KO.

This is a sick fight.

100% agree, i never liked the idea of nate going to 170. he is a lot more dangerous at 155.

I like the fight, but I see no way Diaz gets the W when going through the fight in my head. I think Diaz has much better BJJ, but don't think he can get a takedown and maintain dominant ground position.
I'd say Diaz's boxing is slightly better, but Cerrone has more power and utilizes kicks much better. Cerrone will also be much bigger.

I would say there Boxing is close to equal, however Donald's Muay Thai is way better; I would probably say his wrestling is far superior as well; especially since GSP will most likely be helping him with that aspect as he is fighting Nick's brother.

I actually called this fight a few weeks ago.
It just makes too much sense to not do it.

I still wanna see that Diaz/Lauzon fight that seemed so inevitable at one point, though.

Seeing Nate Diaz and Joe Lauzon would be unreal, especially if it went to the ground; I'm not really sure where I think Nate sits now in the LW division either; which makes it seem more appealing.

I have Cerrone winning this fight and getting a shot at Frankie Edgar. Cerrone FTW and New LightWeight Champion of the UFC.
