Yeah I kind of agree with you there. In all fairness, Helwani has been needling the powers that be for years.
I know I know..... it's his job to get the real story and all that. But if you insist on continuously making your name on pissing off the powers that be, sooner or later it's gonna bite you in the ass.
Its kinda hard to feel bad for a guy who has seemingly been asking for this very outcome for years.

No I 110% agree with you.  I meant it seemed like a pretty shitty thing for Helwani to do.  That seems like breaking some sort of code to me.  
I am assuming he has a friend on the inside or something who gave him the info and then he blabbed it before the UFC got to.  That's horseshit imo.  Like taking advantage of a friend almost or something.  I say fuck him enjoy watching the shows from his couch now.

He also tweeted out that Diaz and McGregor 2 was on for UFC 202 like an hour before the UFC announced it as well.

He did work for Fox, but he got fired from Fox for doing something similar to this I cant remember what it was though. I am almost sure he leaked out that Diaz and McGregor would be fighting each other at UFC 200 right before Fox was about to make the announcement. Dumbass lol.

Yeah he also reported the Diaz/McGregor fight hours before the UFC broke it.
And he was fired from Fox Sports, reportedly for conducting anot interview with Roby MacDonald that was very "pro- free agency".
He's also had his access minimized in the past for doing some pro-Bellator coverage stuff.

It's small stuff, but it's a lot of small stuff, over and over again.
Like I said, it's like he's pissing the UFC off on purpose, so I don't really feel bad for him. It's one thing if he's freelance or whatever, but when you work for Fox (who has an exclusive deal with the UFC), you can't do this anti-UFC, pro-UFC's rivals type shit and keep getting away with it.
He's getting what he deserves for being a gigantic instigator.

Meh.... Im not so butt hurt over this. Helwani is a reporter, he got a scoop and reported the scoop. If the UFC so wants to keep this stuff secret.... keep a better secret. Besides there are so many rumors that fly around I'm sure he's had a few that didn't pan out.

I agree with 99% of this - helwani has never dropped any rumors that didn't pan out he has always been accurate. at least with everything ive ever heard him commit too.

Its not a matter of a reporter getting a scoop and reporting it. Like Trigg said if he was a freelancer it would be different, but he's not.

The UFC operates differently than the NFL or MLB, etc. They are small and tight knit and they allow certain people on the inside to do their thing. Helwani took advantage of that. Its almost like insider trading...

And again, this isn't the first time he's undermined them. If it was, this wouldn't have gone as far as it did.
He makes a habit out of intentionally toeing the line in terms of pissing off the UFC.
Hopefully this taught him a lesson that if he keeps trying to get cute, it could cost him big time.

Meh ... an out-of-control Helwani not owing nothing to Dana and the boys is way more entertaining than an over controlled UFC lapdog.
