UFC on Fuel TV 7: Barao vs McDonald Empty
PostSubject: UFC on Fuel TV 7: Barao vs McDonald   UFC on Fuel TV 7: Barao vs McDonald EmptySun Feb 17, 2013 3:19 pm

I really enjoyed this fight card.

Vaughan Lee vs Motonobu Tezuka- Tezuka basicaly controlled the fight with takedowns attempts and by clinching Lee against the fence ,but didn't really land major damage, while Lee was attacking with good powerful shots the whole time while defending the takdeowns against the cage so he was able to win all three rounds for a unanimous decision.

Tom Watson vs Stansilav Nedkov- What a fucking awesome fight, Watson just brutalized Nedkov in the clinch during the first landing powerful knees and elbows near constantly and then boom near the end of the round Nedkov dropped him on the exit from the clinch and almost knocked him out with a shitload of powerful hammerfists. In the 2nd Watson recontinued his powerful clinch attack and while Nedkov is tough as hell and answered with a few power strikes of his own he was eventually dropped and TKO'd with GnP.

Andy Ogle vs Josh Grispi- Grispi took the 1st round by reversing a takedown and constantly attacking with submissions on the ground. The 2nd started out the same way except that once Grispi reversed the TD and went for subs Ogle escaped it got a body triangle of his own and just rained down powerful strikes to the body and head. The 3rd was more of the same with Ogle just dominating Grispi. UD for Ogle.

Matthew Riddle vs Che Mills- Riddle just dominated the fight with TD's and constant GnP, Mills was the better strikes ,but wasn't able to really utilize, but it was fucking cool in the 2nd round when Riddle hit a leg sweep slam and Mills in midair through a fucking head kick. Clear UD for Riddle which makes me want to know WTF was that one judge thinking.

James Te Huna vs Ryan Jimmo- Man another fucking awesome fight! Te Huna came out early in the first and pressed Jimmo against the cage and then BOOM! right after they disengaged Jimmo blasted him with a fucking high kick that knocked him down and nearly Ko'd him, followed him to the ground and landed some powerful GnP ,but then stopped really attacking, meanwhile Te Huna recovered and kept going for subs, powerful punches, and really effective elbows. He almost did enough to recover the round. In the 2nd Te Huna went back to the clinch and kept going for a slam/suplex and his tenacity finally payed off when he slammed him to the ground and then constantly attacked with GnP. The 3rd went the same way with Te Huna getting the same type of slam and then using good GnP. One hell of a comeback and a UD for Te Huna.

Gunnar Nelson vs Jorge Santiago- Nelson's calm lackidasical ass gave away the first round by not engaging enough, while Santiago attacked with some really good knees from the Thai clinch. In the 2nd Nelson engaged more using unorthodox Karate style attacks to throw off Santiago and then took him down and just constantly attacked on the ground with GnP and subs. It pretty much went the same in the third with Gunnar using his unorthodox strikes to set up a takdeown and then constantly attack ont he ground with subs and GnP. Near the end though Nelson's calm ass almost got ko'd by Santiago. Clear UD for Nelson.

Jimi Manuwa vs Cyrille Diabate- Manuwa dominated the fight with takedowns and stikes, with Diabate landing a few good knees. Sadly, he injured his calf and couldn't come out for the 2nd which gave the win to Manuwa.

Cub Swanson vs Dustin Porier- This fight was all over the fucking place! The Swanson of the WEC is over a new improved one is here, holy shit this fight was back and forth ,but it was clear that Swanson was getting the better of Porier , so he got the UD. See this fight.

Renan Barao vs Michael McDonald- McDonald rocked Barao early in the 1st with a short uppercut and nearly finished him with a flurry of the same ,but Barao was able to recover and used his combination of crisp striking and takedowns to overwhelm and dominated for the first 3 round ,before hitting a takedown out of nowhere in the 4th and locking on a tight knee on belly arm triangle choke to get the win.

On a sidenote, I love Gunnar Nelson ,but he needs to be a bit more urgent next time he fights, I wouldn't say he's cocky, just really fucking calm and it could've lost him this fight. He gave away the 1st by not engaging enough and almost got ko'd in the thired by putting his hands down and leaving his chin open. Also his cornerman was really good, he was calm, but clear and concise with instructions.

Well what did you guys think?
