Jon Jones backs out of Feb. 22 fight - Not Injured

Champion Jon Jones has pulled out of his just-announced UFC light heavyweight title fight against Glover Teixeira, company president Dana White said Thursday night.

The pay-per-view event, UFC 170, is set for Feb. 22 at Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas. The bout was initially announced for UFC 169 on Feb. 1, but White later acknowledged no deal had been finalized for that date before announcing the fight's cancellation Thursday.

When asked if Jones was injured, Dana responded, "No."

"He won't fight Feb. 22," White said. "It might be March now."

Jones (19-1) set the UFC record for consecutive light heavyweight title defenses in September, defeating Alexander Gustafsson via unanimous decision for his sixth defense.

1000% agree with ya buddy. I hope gus takes his belt. i would also be cool Cormier due to the fact how much jones dislikes him. But Jones is starting to get on my nerves a little bit. backs out of a fight with chael which would have saved a card. Straight up saying he wont give cormier a title fight ever. Do we know why yet? I'm ready to jump all over this fucktard and blast him for backing out, but the last time I did that was when Weidman backed out of the Boetsch fight and I thought he was just trying to skirt him and go straight to a title shot. Then it turned out he really was hurt and I felt like an asshat.
