Ferguson injury scraps UFC on FOX 19 headliner

An injury has scrapped another UFC main event less than two weeks before the fight.

Tony Ferguson (20-3 MMA, 10-1 UFC) is out of his UFC on FOX 19 lightweight headliner against Khabib Nurmagomedov (22-0 MMA, 6-0 UFC) next week in Florida. UFC officials today confirmed the injury to MMAjunkie following an initial report from FOXSports.com.

With Ferguson out, the previously booked co-main event light heavyweight bout between former champion Rashad Evans (19-4-1 MMA, 14-4-1 UFC) and former title challenger Glover Teixeira (24-4 MMA, 7-2 UFC) will move into the main event. The fight will be a five-round bout.

It is not yet known if Nurmagomedov will remain on the card against a short-notice opponent, or if he’ll be moved to a future event. After being previously set, a new bout order is being finalized.

Ferguson today posted on his official Twitter account that he has fluid and blood in his lung, according to doctors, and that he normally would “Power thru small Bumps & Bruises.”

dos anjos and cerrone offered to fight khabib

It would be the stupidest thing in the world for dos Anjos to try and take this fight.
Would it be for the title? Even if it isnt, Khabib beat him easily once already, and if he did it again, RDA would be the very definition of a paper champ.

id have to disagree with you trigg I think this fight would go in favor of rda. hes a different fighter since that loss and khabib has been on the bench for a while. I would say it favors the champ.

Yeah I don't get this.

If you can't find anyone on the roster to take the fight, that's one thing. But you had not one but at least two guys willing to fight him! And highly ranked fighters at that!

The UFC matchmaking is just mindbogglingly fucked up lately.

I hope random dude comes in and ruins everything!
