| Subject: Dan Miller replaces injured “Cacareco,” meets Rousimar Palhares at UFC 134 Fri Jul 08, 2011 7:32 pm | |

- Dan Miller (13-5 MMA, 5-4 UFC) has replaced injured Alexandre "Cacareco" Ferreira (18-7 MMA, 0-1 UFC) and now meets fellow middleweight Rousimar Palhares (12-3 MMA, 5-2 UFC) at UFC 134 in Brazil.
UFC officials today announced the change but didn't disclose Ferreira's injury.
UFC 134, first announced as "UFC: Rio," takes place Aug. 27 at HSBC Arena in Rio De Janeiro.
The pay-per-view headliner features a middleweight title fight between reigning champ Anderson Silva and challenger Yushin Okami. Miller vs. Palhares is expected to be part of a preliminary card that streams on Facebook.
Although long rumored, Ferreira vs. Palhares was never officially announced for the card.
Miller nearly was cut from the UFC following consecutive decision losses to a murders' row of UFC middleweights: Chael Sonnen, Demian Maia and Michael Bisping. However, the AMA Fight Club fighter rebounded with late-notice wins against John Salter and Joe Doerksen. However, his comeback trail hit a roadblock with a decision loss to Nate Marquardt earlier this year.
Palhares, meanwhile, is building momentum after a pivotal setback against Marquardt at UFC Fight Night 22. After the loss, the submission specialist took on Dave Branch at UFC on Versus 3 and tapped him out in the second round with a kneebar. It was his fourth win in five UFC fights. In fact, in a seven-fight UFC career, the Brazilian Top Team fighter has been stopped only by top-tier competitors Marquardt and Dan Henderson. http://sports.yahoo.com/mma/news?slug=mmajunkie-Dan_Miller_Cacareco_Rousimar_Palhares_UFC_134 | |
