What was everyone's thoughts on episode 1?  I was entertained, the fighters put it all on the line and showed some awesome aggression.  I also kind of like the whole premise of the show.  I like how the fighters get to choose their camp.  What I don't care for is some of the almost scripted, silly banter amongst the judges...I can tell that Frank Shamrock is going for the drama edge...he's kinda goofy to watch.  And what's up with Coutures brand new front upper teeth...that's all I can stare at is is his big huge white fake smile...

Thoughts?

Yeah, fuckin Shamrock! lol what a goof. I thought it was funny how he blew that one dude off, the Shamrock mind trick. "I do not want to coach you, do not join my team." lol
All in all I thought it was a good show. Seems like it won't be as heavy drama as I thought it might have been. But... then again they aren't in the house yet... wait... is there a "House".... what the hell do they do after choosing teams?

I enjoyed it. The fights were good and the premise is different than TUF. Shamrock is trying to reverse psychology the fuck out of everyone.

Also Joe Warren seems the most into the fights.

Yeah Joe does seem into it the most...which makes sense because he's the most green out of the bunch so he's probably trying to make a huge impact on everyone.

Anyone been watching? I have...it's ok I suppose. It comes off as cheesy to me...especially when they're interviewing Shamrock and Joe...but I guess that's their personalities. I think the other part of it is this has all been done before...alot...and much better. So I guess this is the cheap "knock off" version of TUF. This is the equivalent of the guy at the mall in the small kiosk selling sunglasses 2 for $20 that look just like oakleys....but you know you really aren't going to get oakleys or the oakley quality unless you break down and buy them at the oakley store.

I didn't catch last nights yet but I've been watching. Riggs looked crazy improved since the last I saw him. Yeah, Shamrock is a fuckin cornball... but I kinda like it for some stupid reason.

Oh yeah in regards to Riggs, it became very obvious how much difference a shit ton of experience makes. He should walk through this competition with ease IMO. His stance, his composure, everything looked awesome. But I guess we have to remember this is against guys with very little experience...against my 5 year old I look like a brazilian jui jitsu master.......

It's hard to tell because he has only fought in dream and Belator. Warren is a Lay and Pray specialist with sloppy stand-up. I think he would be a somewhat average fighter in the UFC much like Lumbard.

Yeah... he's good. But just "Bellator Good". He has alot to work on if he wants to make it anywhere inside the octagon. But he could destroy guys over in Bellator the rest of his career if he chose to...

I thought it was funny when he made comment to one of the competitors that the other coaches have never been in the bellator cage and don't know what it means to be a bellator champion like he has. Come on dude...you're sitting next to Randy freaking Couture and Shamrock and you have the nerve to speak about their experience???

I'd like to see Riggs bypass the competition altogether and just fight Warren. Actually it'd probably make more sense for Warren and Riggs to just switch places.

PostSubject: Re: Fight Master Discussion   Fight Master Discussion EmptyThu Jul 25, 2013 6:25 pm

I really really enjoyed the 2 fights on the this past episode. As much as I think Bronzoulis is somewhat of a tool for how he acts "I'm a real life gladiator" and "this is the hammer of the gods it'll smash your face"...but man, his KO of Warren's fighter was freaking glorious. All Warren's fighter wanted to do was hold him the whole time, I don't think he threw one single strike...and then when Randy was telling Bronzoulis to avoid the takedowns and work on the cage and all that and Bronzoulis said "no I'm gonna knock him out"...then ten seconds later he does just that...perfect. Before the fight I wanted Bronzoulis to lose...after the first round I wanted him to win, and I actually did a fist pump when he did.

Second fight was brilliant strategy on Shamrock's side. Ishmael has ZERO ground game...kinda fights like a longer Rampage. Joe took him down with ease and then sat on top of him and manipulated him anyway he wanted...and Shamrock is such a prick...to be yelling to his opponent..."I think you're losin Ishmael"...and Warren was in shock, he had nothing to battle it with. I don't think he expected the level of head games an experienced fighter like Shamrock can bring to the table. You could see the frustration just ooozing from Warren...especially after Shamrock yelled "Joe doesn't know how to train Ishmael to get up!"...he was obviously correct.

Other thoughts?

I loved the ending to the Bronzoulis fight too. That guy had absolutely nothing but wrestling and apparently not too great of wrestling at that. I was assuming the ref was gonna split em up sooner or later after laying on the cage so damn long... but he let it ride. But the finish couldn't have been sweeter.

LIke you said, his wrestling wasn't even good because he couldn't get him down...all he could do was press him against the cage. We wish for those type endings all the time...nice KO by Bronzoulis.

Another couple of entertaining fights. The red head kid lost that fight because of his own insecurities...he's one of those guys that the perfect example of being his own worst enemy. Just wouldn't commit.

As far as the Riggs fight...good win for Joe, but I really thought he should've won alot easier than that. Constant extreme weight cuts must be really taking it's toll. Having said that I really see why Joe looks like he's 50 years old as a 30 year old. He consistently punishes his body dropping 30lbs in a couple days all the time.

Oh and Joe Warren really doesn't appear to be a very good cornerman at all. He doesn't give his fighters good advice. He appears to get very frustrated and just shouts "you gotta get up...you're gonna lose if you stay there"...well duh dude....I think your guy knows that...how about some useful advice.

Thoughts on episode 7? It seems that the best guys (Riggs not included) are beating themselves. I don't think Souza should've been beating by Cutts last night. I don't know if he underestimated him or if he just got frustrated when he couldn't KO or TKO Cutts in the first round after that barrage of punches that should've knocked him out...but either way he just fell to pieces in the second round. Not sure why he kept going to the ground with Cutts...he was obviously dominating him in the striking game...everytime he got on top Cutts would throw up a submission. Souza could've ended the fight or at least won a decision had he kept it standing and not allowed himself to be pinned against the cage.

The Mathews/Bradley fight was an extreme borefest. I'm not surprised by the outcome, but all Bradley wanted to do is stay on his back and transition....I had to fast forward through it...boooooorrriiing.

I think Riggs just needs to cut to the chase and fight Warren. Forget wasting his time on these other guys that don't have the experience and talent he has. He could beat Warren today and walk away with the Bellator title.

Warren fights at 145 so I don't think it would be all that fair of a fight. The winner gets a spot in the upcoming Belator 170 tournament.

Thoughts on last night's episode? First off, I'm sure this will be debatable, but I think Cole got robbed in that decision...I agree with Jackson that when he got Joe down in the 2nd round he did absolutely nothing to him, and Joe was very active on the bottom...but Cole was WAY more aggressive, got the takedowns, pushed the pace, was constantly bringing it to Joe and working. I think the judges were swayed by the name "Joe Riggs" in this fight. IMHO Cole should've been given the win.

2nd fight...Bronzoulis...I don't like the dude, but he gains my respect everytime he fights...he keeps taking these dudes that just want to press him against the cage and wrestle him and he nullifies them by KOing them...fantastic. He weathers the storm and then prevails. I like him more each time he fights. And I think Greg Jackson is a whiney baby...always looking for points or a technicality to win a fight. I didn't see a single elbow that looked illegal until Randy pointed out the one that could've been considered "close". AWESOME win for team RC.
