| Subject: Kenny Florian not retiring, will go back to 155. Sun Oct 23, 2011 4:54 pm | |

- It appears that Kenny Florian’s days in the UFC aren’t at an end just yet. The former Ultimate Fighter finalist isn’t ready to pencil “retired fighter” onto his resume just yet.
Florian told the Boston Herald on Sunday, “I still love this sport tremendously and still want to be a part of it. There’s still very much a fire burning there so I’m going to do it.”
The questions about his future rose immediately after Florian failed to wrest the title from Jose Aldo at UFC 136 recently in Houston. That was Florian’s first shot at the featherweight belt, but his third shot overall, having already come up short against Sean Sherk and B.J. Penn in the lightweight division, the class where he has spent the majority of his UFC career.
Florian is in a different place than the likes of Chuck Liddell, whom UFC president Dana White forcefully nudged into retirement.
“That’s up to Kenny,” White said about Florian’s future following UFC 136. “It’s one of those things he needs to sit down and really figure out on his own. He’s accomplished a lot in this sport; he really has.”
Florian, however, hasn’t accomplished everything his set his mind to, and he’s not ready to give up trying, but he is being realistic about his future.
“I didn’t get in this to be second-best, of course. But at the same time, not everybody can be a champion,” Florian told the Boston Herald. “I’m just going to go back to 155, work my way up, take it one fight at a time and see where it puts me. http://mmaweekly.com/kenny-florian-not-ready-to-give-up-on-ufc-dream

| I like Kenny and I'll give him credit. Recently I've noticed some people put him down for losing each title fight ,but think of it like this: how many people are actually good enough to get three title shots? | |

100% agree and well said. I always liked kenny, It just sucks to always see him fall a little short each time from winning the belt.
