I agree DEP...Korn's first album was awesome...then they changed their style to waaaay too wusscake mainstream and then made 17 more albums just like their wusscake one.
I actually saw them on their first tour way back in like 1997 when they opened for Danzig.
Yes. I saw them summer of 96 at some huge "outdoorfest96summertimeconcertseries!!!!" event. They were there with No Doubt, Gravity Kills and a bunch of other "oh yeah, I've heard this song" bands. Jon Davis was the most amazing performer I'd ever seen, the music was bizarre and unique but still hardcore, the pit was hell on earth and I was hooked. I gave up on them after "Issues" came out though, it just had such a big label production feel to it that they seemed like a totally different band. Almost like a big money Korn cover band. From what I've gathered, that's exactly what it was. All of their cobbled together studio equipment went out to the curb after a couple of singles from Life Is Peachy started getting radio play and thus, radio $$ and sold out venues. With a bigger budget they got better equipment and the sound and feel changed. No more taking the tiny recording microphone out of an old Panasonic boombox and hanging it upside down inside of a wooden subwoofer box to get the sound they wanted (true story). Every new album they release, they say "we really wanted to get back to the style that we invented and pioneered blah blah blah", and surprise... it's the same cut and dried stuff every time. On top of that, Jon Davis doesn't sound as genuinely fucking nuts as he used to. He sounds like he's going through the motions instead of actually reaching into his guts and screaming it out. Music kinda has a therapeutic aspect to it, and I guess after 15+ years of therapy he's not as pissed off as he used to be. Kudos to him for sorting that out, but the music suffers. It's the same with every band/front man.
That was my first concert! 15th Birthday at Sommerset Wi. floatrite park! WOOPWOOP! I got punched in the face by some stupid ass skin head in the pit during KoRn. Got really drunk for the first time... that place used to be awesome! Now the pit is all cement and chairs... fuckin weak!
Sorry about that man!! Next time watch where you're going.
But yeah that place was so badass back then, I think that's where Lollapalooza came through in its first or second year. I wanted to go to that so bad. RHCP, RATM and Ministry were there and I was a 14yo in my room going lol... First concert for me was 15, too. I saw Alice in Chains, Ugly Kid Joe and someone else and it was fucking amazing. And, I'm done. I know the bands I used to love are going to start doing casino tours pretty soon. I'm not going. I refuse to be old.

Ok I can't judge you for that IF you tell me that you were trying to get some chicky mama naked when you developed a taste for it. That's an interesting sub-topic, sam. Dudes of a certain age will pretend they're into ANY song and go to ANY concert if they think it scores points with a chick they like enough. For me... it was Tori Amos.
You guys know me.
This is definitely not me. But I was 20 and she was hot so what the hell.

I admit that I pretended to like this chick music for a year or so for the reasons mentioned above:

I didn't realize exactly how much I hated them until I turned 30. I used to just generally loathe them. Now I get visibly distraught when I hear them.

A band I recently discovered and easily jumped into my top ten of all time. They remind me of good 90's grunge.

Relived my childhood by listening to the following songs nonstop for three days straight until they were stuck in my head while I was trying to read an academic book.
Seriously trying to focus on academic reading after being up for two days and having any of these songs stuck in your fucking head is a difficult task.

This one hit me today, got a little emo for a minute.... again lol...
It's been probably 20yrs since I heard this and I got insanely pissed off and sad immediately almost like Pavlov's dog. Pretty dark period for DEP, almost didn't make it. Strange how a familiar song from a different time can do that to you after so long.

Was looking for the theme song of this Colombian film called Perro Come Perro (the film), but instead found this and like it... a lot.

I've been digging these guys quite a bit lately... don't like the original though this cover is pretty sweet.
