| Subject: Joe Warren Ruled ‘Ineligible to Compete,’ Pulled From Saturday’s Bellator 98 Fight Fri Sep 06, 2013 10:29 am | |

- With just one day remaining until showtime, Joe Warren (pictured) was deemed ineligible to compete at Bellator 98 by the Mohegan Tribe Department of Athletic Regulation.
After reviewing the medical documentation submitted by Warren, the promotion decided to play it safe and postpone his Bantamweight Semifinal bout against Nick Kirk until further notice.
The 135-pounders were slated to co-headline the show.
“I’ve been fortunate to work with one of the best commissioners in the sport in Mike Mazzulli, and after carefully reviewing Joe’s medical documents, everyone agreed to err on the side of caution with the goal of ensuring our fighters safety,” Bellator CEO Bjorn Rebney expressed in a statement. “It was determined Joe would be unable to compete this Saturday at Mohegan Sun.
“Joe’s been with us since the beginning and as is the case with every fighter here, it’s incumbent on me to ensure Joe is 100% healthy and medically cleared to fight before he steps into the Bellator cage.”
We reached out to Bellator for additional information regarding Warren’s physical condition, but they were unable to provide specifics at this time. http://www.5thround.com/154081/joe-warren-ruled-ineligible-to-compete-pulled-from-saturdays-bellator-98-fight/ A casino won't let him fight... it's gotta be something pretty awful... | |
