- Bad news for those looking forward to the featherweight title rematch between Joe Warren and Patricio ‘Pitbull’ Freire on July 27th at Bellator 47 – the fight has been scrapped after the Brazilian suffered an injury in training.
“It’s true. I won’t be able to fight Warren this month,” Freire revealed on Twitter. “Saturday I heard it will take me four months to be able to fight again.” “I have fractures on my thumb of the left hand, and ligament injuries, that’s why it may take so long for me to get back in the cage,” “I will spend six weeks with my hand immobilized, and than at least one month of physical therapy, depending on my progression. And then I will be able to get back to training, lightly at first, but the doctor said I could be able to fight by the end of November.
“I will try my hardest to get back in there as soon as possible. Tell Joe I’m coming for him by the end of the year!”
Disappointing news as this was definitely one of the best fights incoming in July. ‘Pitbull’s’ only loss came to Warren a year ago via an extremely close ‘split decision’ verdict following the Bellator season 2 featherweight tournament.

| Shitty news, I was really looking foward to this fight. Pitbull always brings it, I think he could have taken the title this time around. | |

| I love both of the Pit Bull brothers styles, they always give a good show. I agreed i think Warren would have his hands full this time around. I mean, the last fight was no cake walk either... But I don't think Warren has progressed as much in the last year as Patricio. | |
