NSAC Warns Silva He Will Not Be Welcome In Vegas With A Repeat Of UFC 148 Antics

Following Anderson Silva’s second round stoppage of Chael Sonnen at UFC 148 the Middleweight Champion has been receiving a lot of criticism.

At the start of the bout Silva was caught taking the Vaseline from his face and rubbing it on his chest and arms as well as being warned twice for grabbing Sonnen’s shorts. Also prior to the bout at the weigh-ins Silva struck Chael Sonnen with a shoulder strike.

It was a first for the UFC Middleweight Champion to act out this way and Executive Director of the Nevada State Athletic Commission (NSAC) Keith Kizer wants to ensure its the last. Kizer commented to MMA Fighting on the situation.

“I told him if you ever do anything like that again you will not be invited to fight in Nevada again…. if the next few Anderson Silva fights don’t happen in Nevada, it won’t bother me in the least.”

Thats all good and all but he should be fined like say $5,000. May be peanuts for him but for alot of these other fighters who think about doing the same, it would cost them almost half of there winnings. seeing a lot of these undercard guys are only making about $10,000 a fight.

He's only saying this because Silva didn't actually do anything wrong, and the commission therefore can't do anything about it (i.e. fine him or suspend him).
The ref was there to regulate grabbing the shorts. He did.
The commission was there to ensure Silva wasn't overly slippery. They did.
I like how the article said he was "caught" rubbing the vaseline from his face onto his body, as if he was trying to hide it or something. Yeah, that sneaky Anderson Silva, secretly doing that in plain sight on national TV and live in front of thousands of people.

This is another lame-ass move by lame-ass Keith Kizer of the lame-ass NSAC.

I however can't defnd the shoulder strike at the weigh-ins. That could be seen as illegl very easily.
