yup he sure is. Or at least was. I remember him on TUF making fun of all the other fighters for what they were eating and how nasty it was, yet I cant think of one dish he had were I was like "oh hey that looks good" to be honest I thought Mac was kind of a douche. I think most of it was how he was just going on how he was a veteran of the sport and no one in the house is even near his level and so on. yet I know George sortroplis(I know I spelled his name wrong) was on the same show and had a much more impressive carrier over mac. in the end not a big loss. I wasn't a fan of the guy and never thought he would break the top ten either.

Yeah I always thought he was a pretty average fighter who was lucky enough to be on one of the least-talented seasons of TUF ever. Remember who he beat to win the season? Freaking Tommy Spears. Then you had other dudes like Richie Hightower, Blake Bowman, and Troy Mandoloniz. The sad part is that those are the only other guys I can remember from that season. Yes, those were the most memorable fighters from that season.

Wait, wasn't War Machine on that season, also. So there you go!

I remember throwing a fucking hissy fit because one of the guys in the house killed a fly with a flyswatter.

Strange dude.... weak from not eating animal products, and pretty damn boring.
Can't say I am disappointed he's gone.

another bad decision by ufc. another "boring" fighter is gone so we get new bleeding blood in there.
it will come back to bite ufc in the ass in the end. by forcefully pushing the "exciting" style, they are removing some of the martial arts out of the equation. grappling, mainly wrestling.
wrestling is not only about changing levels and shooting for a double, it is much more than that, including complete control of your opponent. and all of that will be removed from the training and performance of the fighters.
what happens when you remove one of the most dominant martial arts? the honesty of the sport goes away, thats what.

yeah he is boring as shit and i dont like watching him fight but my point was that ufc has to keep even these kind of fighters if they are good. all of us thinking that he is boring adds to the problem because we dont mind when he is gone.

I agree with you, and I think the UFC does do this to an extent. What boring fighter have they let walk and has thrived in another promotion? Also with a record of 4-3-1, against somewhat mid-level competition, I would say that Shields was a rather average level UFC fighter who was probably making more money than what his draw would support. The UFC is not a charity, if they can not make money off of a fighter then they are going to cut him, just like any other private business does with their employees.

I would agree but like I said above he's hardly "mixed" martial artist....if gsp wasnt champ towards the last few years of his career and was cut due to being boring then that would be an issue because he's "mixed"....shields on the other hand not so much

I guess I agree with the logic but feel like shields needs to be more well rounded to keep in the mix

You're an employee of the UFC, and while your job is to win, that's not all there is in your job description. You're job is to make the company a profit, too.

Good bye Brandon Vera    definitely sucks for he was one of my first muay thai sparring partners and was just in general a great guy but i get why he is let go though too. Ever since his contract dispute after beating Mir he just didn't look like the same Vera and really made no major head way when he returned. I hope he goes to Bellator where he can have some good fights at least.

Stefan struve good luck in what ever avenue you take in your life. He was cut due to his medical problems and the fact he was cleared by doctors for his fight and almost passed out prior to his fight with matt matrione.

Loved watching Struve fight. Very talented for being so tall and awkward.
Plus, not many things as cool as watching the skyscraper fall after eating a huge KO punch.
