Everyone thought Defries was going to be the next Frank Mir when he debuted with the UFC. Unfortunately, he had a big problem getting KOd by mid tier tallent (to be generous).

i honestly wouldnt be surprised to see kongo get his walking papers.......hes fun to watch sometimes but just cant get past the upper eschelon of guys.

I guess this doesn't really bother me...he's one of those guys that looks like your worst enemy physically but never really comes through in the octagon.

at least we have urijah hall......smaller maybe better version of kongo....and they look alike(urijah and kongo that is)

I think most people saw this coming. Dude just got to the game way too late in his life. He is 38 and his knees are shot. Every time he tries to come back he just gets injured again when he starts training.

UFC lightweight fighter, Tim Means, has been released from the promotion following back-to-back losses inside the Octagon.

During his stint with the worlds largest MMA promotion, Means went 2-2.

After gaining victory in his first two outings he went on to drop a decision at the hands of Jorge Masvidal and then he missed weight by five pounds in July against Danny Castillo and lost that fight as well.

Paul Taylor has just announced his retirement. he was suppose to return on the manchester card and had to pull out due to injury for a 3rd time. he last fought in 2011. I would say good move paul on the retirement move.

the only reason to cut him is to make the rest of the roster fight more in a spectacular way and attract young fighters that are "exciting". i think this is ridiculous. a good fighter is a good fighter. as much as this is show business, it is not WWE. quality should still be number one.
it sends the wrong message. fighter should not be worried about selling tickets, they should be worried only about using their skills to their best abilities.
GSP is very lucky that he is that good at the same style, otherwise he'd be in the same boat.

although, maybe Dana and co are geniuses and know when fighter will "lose" it. Fitch has been struggling since his release. (its maybe just mental insecurity for him right now)

I read a quote somewhere where Dana said something along the line of "He can't win the title, so basically he's just standing in the way of the guys coming up right now". It sucks, but you gotta admit, Dana has a point.

Yeah I agree.

I hear what some are saying about good fighters are good fighters, but if I owned a business I think I would feel the same as Dana here, especially in the case of Okami.

Okami will NEVER fight for the belt again and that's ok, because many guys in the UFC won't, but not only is he boring, but he has a very difficult grinding out style that is tough to deal with and really proves nothing when you lose to it, so what's the sense? Some young exciting up and comer fights Okami and Okami holds him against the cage for 3 rounds doing nothing and derails his career path with a split decision. Meh...Not worth it.
