Why Anderson Silva Isn't "All That" In My Heart

Well, nobody ever mentioned anything about Silva "downsizing". The fight being discussed would be at MW. So Silva would be in no different shape than for any other fight. GSP would be the one moving up in weight, where he would most certainly be in a more disadvantageous position than he has ever been at WW. That's just logical.

I certainly think it's fair to say that GSP has a fair amount of panic in his mind when things don't go as planned in his fights. Anyone who saw his discussion in his corner with Greg Jackson during the Sheilds fight or the way he blindly fled in the Serra fight could see it.

Like I said, if Silva had that same weakness, he wouldn't have had the ability to control himself long enough to finish Sonnen, and he would not be champ right now.
That kind of weakness can cost you a fight, and it did once for GSP (luckily not twice).

A lot of people question his heart, but let's be honest. heart is not going to be the deciding factor against Silva. If GSP gets tagged by Silva he will simply be on the same slippery, down hill slope that every other fighter has been in once that happens. Silva is a precision striker that simply takes that legs, heart and brain function out of any fighter he connects on. His striking is just that effective. So to point to GSP's heart, which is debatable still, isn't really a deciding factor in this fight any more than it was for any other fighter he has fought in the UFC. What will be the deciding factor is GSP's ability to avoid that position. It will come down to his camp putting a game plan together that puts him in the best position to win and his ability to implement that game plan. Those are things that GSP and his camp do very well at. Heart isn't what needs the focus going into this fight. The focus is GSP's preparation and approach to the fighting game.

What we really have here is Precision Striking vs. Precision Game Planning. That in itself makes this a very interesting match up. It is a classic Brain vs Brawn.
