Not to surprised by this. By any way nothing but praise and respect for this guy. He was a true warrior and gave us some great fights. Good luck in the future Nog!!!!!

| What is with Dana deciding for these guys that they're retired? I mean I don't disagree that Nog should retire, as Chuck shouldve as well, but it just rubs me the wrong way for some reason.

Dana does control if they retire from the UFC not MMA, he can also say if you fight for another Org then you will no longer get a cushy desk job.

I'm just saying he shouldn't. Ok i realize Dana does a lot to make people mad at him, but I dont think telling someone "Listen there is no more market for you in the UFC as a fighter, but if you want a cushy desk job even though you have absolutely no qualifications what so ever I am willing to pay you to do nothing out of respect" is horrible. Not everything he does is evil lol.

Not everything he does is evil lol. I didn't say it was horrible or evil. I wasn't even trying to imply that. I just said it "rubs me the wrong way for some reason". I don't know if it's the fact that he chooses to do it at press conferences, but it just comes off as a little tattle tale-ish or unnecessarily public or something. I guess I just don't really see why the conversation couldn't just be done privately between the two of them and have that be the end of it, instead of coming out and saying "Listen everybody, I just told Nog he needs to retire, just so you all know!" It's the more the method he chooses to communicate it than the actual act of suggesting retirement is what I actually dislike about it I guess.

| Well I don't think it was tattle tailing or trying to make nog look bad. I think it was just a little self serving promotion to be honest. A "look we look after our people here" type of thing. | |

| a part of me thinks dana does it out of his heart. he knows the fight game. he has worked with these guys for years. im sure he doesnt want to see these guys taking beatings and ruining their legacy so he does the next best thing to fighting. give them a job with the company you served. i personally think that is a stand up thing to do for your employees. | |

Self serving promotion is probably the best way I can think to describe it as well. I guess we just view the intention of it a little differently. It's a fine line between "we look after our people here" and "Look at me looking after our people here, everybody!!" lol I know, it's splitting hairs. Like I said, it just irks me a little. I'd much rather he not address until it's all a done deal, and like I said, just keep it private until then. I'd much rather hear "Hey everybody! Nog has decided to retire. And guess what, he's now (insert company position name here)!! Come on out Nog and say hi!!" than "I just talked to Nog and I want him to retire. He's got nothing left to prove, I don't wanna see him get hurt anymore blah blah blah".The latter just leaves an ugly, ominous feeling for me.

Yeah I agree with this as well. I also admit to falling on the side of liking Dana. I have met him a bunch of times and he couldn't have been nicer. I think he did it because he cares about Nog as well. I just think that he mentioned it in the presser to give himself and the UFC a bit of good press.
