- The long-rumored light heavyweight bout between Daniel Cormier and Dan Henderson has finally become official.
After weeks of denying anything was “done,” UFC president Dana White announced the bout on ESPN’s SportsCenter on Wednesday. Cormier vs. Henderson will serve as the UFC 173 co-main event on May 24 in Las Vegas.
“We got it done, May 24 in Las Vegas, co-main event, Dan Henderson vs. Daniel Cormier,” White revealed.
The bout had first been targeted for the UFC 175 pay-per-view on July 5, but after a shuffling and then re-shuffling of the deck, Cormier vs. Henderson lands on the UFC 173 fight card.
A major contributing factor has been Nevada’s recent decision to ban TRT exemptions. Henderson has admittedly been on a TRT regimen for some time, and he had to get that situation cleared up before he could fight in Nevada again.
“Dan Henderson had to get back with Nevada. He needed to take a test. His levels came in perfect and we were able to get it done,” White added on ESPN’s MMA Live Extra. Wai wha? Oh absolutely. I didn't used to dislike Hendo, but he's just slowly and steadily caused me to loathe him, with his constant whining and passive aggressive comments about other fighters. Cormier I haven't liked since the jump. After he entered the tournament in Strikeforce I was like OK, time to pay attention to this guy. Then he talked and I went "Baah!! STFU!" | |

| Not to me. He kind of reminds of Jon Jones in that he's terrible at talking trash, but still does it at every opportunity. He just comes off kind of oversensitive or something. | |

| When he started getting into it with Jones is what rings a bell, if I'm trying to pinpoint roughly when I started to dislike him. I'd have to dig up some quotes to parlay exact statements, but generally I just found it annoying that he would relentlessly taunt him, then seem to get pissy when Jones finally said something back.
I don't know, maybe any trash talking involving Jones just instantly becomes annoying to me as a whole or something. lol | |

| cormier is nothing like jones, at least in my opinion. whatever he says is usually thought out and sensible. he is not even close to being as shallow as jones. | |
