- Although Fedor Emelianenko’s days with Zuffa, LLC, the parent company
of the UFC and Strikeforce, are officially over, it doesn’t mean that’s the last we’ve seen of “The Last Emperor.” According to M-1 Global president Vadim Finkelstein, Emelianenko has decided to resume his illustrious career overseas.
“We consulted with Fedor and it was decided that he should not leave the sport in this way. His friends and past opponents support Fedor in continuing his career and he agreed,” Finkelstein said. “We want to organize a fight for Fedor in Russia and have already begun working in this direction.
“If everything goes as planned, we will produce a card in Moscow or St. Petersburg sometime in the fall with Fedor as the main event.”
No specific opponent or date has been assigned at this time.
The Emelianenko express certainly won’t stop there. After establishing his aura of invisibility in Japan many moons ago, it appears a return to The Land of the Rising Sun is also on the agenda.
“In addition to the fight in Russia, we’re also working with our Japanese contacts to organize a New Year’s Eve event in Japan that Fedor would participate in, as well,” Finkelstein added. “If all is successful, in 2012 we’ll be back in the U.S.
“All these ideas are being developed right now and we want to work exactly according to this plan.”
Last week, UFC president Dana White cut ties with Emelianenko after he suffered a devastating 1stRound TKO loss to Dan Henderson. It was the 34-year-old’s third consecutive defeat.

| Heh Fedor and M1 will be setting up a "best of 21 fight tournament". Of course Fedor's only opponent will be Tim Sylvia and each victory will count towards the Paper Emperors legacy. Hell at this rate the PE could have well over a 100 victories before he retires. | |
