Dana White Says Anderson Silva Might Be Next For Georges St Pierre, Not Johny Hendricks

UFC President Dana White announced at Thursday’s UFC on Fox 7 media day that he would be calling welterweight champ Georges St Pierre to discuss what is next for him. After giving him time to heal after his UFC 158 victory over Nick Diaz in March, White is eager to speak with St Pierre about who he would like to face next.

It was widely believed that Georges St Pierre would be fighting number one contender Johny Hendricks next, and a cross-division superfight with Anderson Silva would be put on hold. However, Dana White told the media today that he would have no qualms about St Pierre facing Silva next, if that’s what the Canadian wanted:

“Maybe he wants to fight Anderson if Anderson wins. If Georges says to me, ‘I want to fight Anderson Silva,’ you think I’m going to go, ‘No you’re not – you’re fighting Johny Hendricks. We’ll talk about that later’? He’d still be [welterweight champion]. He could go [back] down to fight Hendricks for the title.”

It is worth noting that whatever St Pierre decides, a fight with Silva would need to be put on hold as he is already scheduled to fight number one middleweight contender Chris Weidman at UFC 162 in July.

BULLSHIT! Defend the title first.

Is this just code for GSP maybe having one more fight in the next 12 months.
He averages like 1.5 fights a year in a good year.
Yet, his minutes fighting per year is pretty impressive/boring.

Funny, because Georges has said the exact opposite of this on many occasions.
Whatever, I don't think it matters. I think this is just Dana once again blowing smoke up everyone's ass when it comes to the GSP/Silva superfight. It's meaningless to me at this point. How many times does Dana think he can go "It could happen next!!!" and not deliver before people just flat out stop believing him at all?

I think either stock is right and this is just an excuse for GSP to sit out for a year again, or Dana and GSP are genuinely worried that Hendricks can take GSP down, and this is just a way to try to coax Hendricks into fighting someone else yet again in the hopes that he loses and doesn't get the chance to upset GSP.

I honestly don't think GSP is ever going to fight Silva.

How awesome would it be if Anderson beat GSP worse than Griffin or Bonner? I would LOVE that!

Exactly what I was thinking when I read this. GSP has said every single time that he has been asked that if he moves up to fight Silva its a permanent move.

Yeah, and now GSP is saying he would rather go to LW than up to MW.
