Top 10 middleweight Mark Munoz is coming off arguably the most lopsided beating of 2012, when he suffered a KO loss to top contender Chris Weidman at UFC on FUEL TV this past July. Since then, news hasn’t gotten any better for the “Filipino Wrecking Machine”, as he recently revealed that he may be out of action for some time.
Munoz apparently suffured a foot injury while training for the Weidman fight and depending on the severity of the injury, he could potentially miss up to a full calander year. Here is what Mark had to say:
“I hurt my foot training for the Weidman fight; I was training with Jason (Miller) inside the cage and my foot got caught. I am not sure if it is broken. I will be getting an official MRI tomorrow and I will know. I just hope they do not have to break it in order for it to heal properly as it has somewhat started to heal.”
Tough news for one of the nicest guys in MMA, who is already coming off what has to be the worst loss of his career. continued... Well thats one 185er in the running down....

I'll say. Munoz out for a year, Vitor went up to 205,Belcher is injured.
Seems like Stann, Weidman,Boestch and BISPING!!!!!!!!! are really the only 4 who are in the serious running at this point. Hell why not have Stann/Bisping be #1 contender and Weidman/boestch for the next shot. by that time maybe a few other 185'ers will back from injury or maybe have a few new ones imerge.

| ahhh.... because Bisping would only be on a 1 fight winning streak... and Stann would have only beat Sakara and Mikey.... ? The reality of it is Weidman and The Barbarian are the only true contenders on a winning streak with recent wins over Top 5 guys, that aren't injured and are ready to fight any time. | |

I do agree with you, by fight streaks you are right Weidman /boestch makes a lot more sense, But by selling as a paper view, Bisping vs Silva in the Uk or Silva vs Stann I think would make more money at this point and time. boestch didnt look that great in his lombard fight and did a lack luster performance. Weidman just needs to spark the hype on him and the best way to do that is have 1 or 2 more solid wins. His fight with maia was not very impressive but i do understand he took the fight on short notice and the only thing that really stands out on him right now is knocking out Munoz who really didnt look like he was in the best of shape for that fight not taking anything away from this kid and to be honest with 2 more solid wins against 2 more solid opponets i would be protesting for this kid to have a crack at the title. Maybe 185'er tournament Bisping/Stann winner vs Weidman/Boestch winner= #1 contender. Atleast its a more vaild win/win/. Weidman beats boestch and bisping/Stann winner/ how can you not give him a crackat the title? Bisping beast Stann and Weidman/Boestch winner- then bisping just took out 2 guys who beaten top 5 guys and deserves a shot hands aswell. and so on......
