The event, headlined by a rematch between champion Anderson Silva and Chael Sonnen, drew an announced crowd of 15,016 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena.
The live gate of nearly $7 million was not immediately confirmed by Nevada officials but would set a record for the venue and all UFC events in the United States.
The previous mark, set at UFC 66 in December 2006 featuring a main event of Tito Ortiz-Chuck Liddell, had an announced attendance of 13,761 and a a live gate figure reported of $5,397,300.
Pay-per-view numbers are not released by UFC, but president Dana White said the event was trending toward breaking every television buy record one day before the event. source | |
