- During UFC Fight Night 62 in Rio de Janeiro on Saturday, lightweight Drew Dober fell victim to one of the worst stoppages in UFC history. Leandro Silva applied a guillotine choke, but wasn’t in position to finish the submission. The referee swooped in and stopped the fight while Dober was not in any danger. Check out the video and see for yourself.

| No it is the worst or pretty close to it. This fight needs to be turned to a NC. No way that guy should suffer a loss for that fight. | |

| It's funny that the ref didn't stop it when he was sort of in a little bit of danger, but then when he manages to get himself even further out of harm's way and into an even safer spot the ref figures it's time to stop it. WTF...... | |

| It was fucking awful, not even a subjective thing like a GnP finish. He wasn't in that choke at all, he was in that position where it has just become clear that they've escaped the guilltoine and are in no danger because they've popped their head out. The fight should be turned into a NC and the ref should be punished. | |

| What pisses me off even more if that fact the other fighter tried to act he did tap out and followed it up with a that little taunting dance afterwards like he kick his ass or some thing. I really hope dude gets his block taken off in his next fight. | |

| Fucking Brazil! Terribly awful stoppage and of course it was in the hometown fighters favor. I grow tired of Brazil's bullshit, every time a card is there it's one thing or another. Shady fuckin judges, refs and athletic commissions... | |

- Here’s the CABMMA statement:
Regarding your concern, we need to stress that CABMMA follows the guidelines of the Nevada State Athletic Commission and, therefore, needs time to conduct the relevant research and analysis of precedents involving such agency to decide on how to proceed.
In this sense, as of this moment, CABMMA will not change a decision rendered at the end of any contest or exhibition unless (i) it determines that there was a collusion affecting the relevant result, (ii) the compilation of the scorecards of the judges discloses an error which shows that the decision was given to the wrong athlete, or (iii) as the result of an error interpreting a provision of our rules and regulations, the referee has rendered an incorrect decision.
The Silva-Dobber stoppage does not fall in (i) or (ii), and moreover are not within the scope of (iii) above since it is not based on a misinterpretation of the rules and regulations leading to the result of the bout, but rather on a judgment call of a trained and experienced referee based on Mr. Leandro “Buscape” Silva’s submission, confirmed by Eduardo Herdy.
Consequently, there is no action CABMMA can take at this time, and the result will be maintained. http://mmajunkie.com/2015/03/brazil-commission-controversial-leandro-silva-vs-drew-dober-result-will-stand | |

| And even better...... This is the same ref on the same card. Apparently this guy was just fucking fine and the ref saw no reason to stop the fight until he tapped out six goddamn times!! http://streamable.com/bt72 | |

| And of course it was a Brazilian he wasn't stopping the fight for... "maybe if I wait long enough he will wiggle out of it..." Is the only thing that could be happening there. Those taps were as obvious as fucking any I have ever seen! | |

| Yeah, regardless of where the ref was looking, there was absolutely no doubt whatsoever that he was tapping. The ref was right there not 2 feet from the action, looking right at it. The fighter was tapping on his opponents leg, so if he wasn't watching the tap, what was he watching? The fighter's eyes? OK, well the fighter was looking him directly in the eye, begging him to stop the fight.
Unbelievable.... | |
