Dan Henderson's long-anticipated return to the UFC is now a reality.
Henderson has verbally agreed to fight former UFC light heavyweight champ Mauricio "Shogun" Rua at UFC 139. Sources close to the event today confirmed the news to MMAjunkie.com following an initial report from MMAWeekly.com.
UFC 139 takes place Nov. 19 at HP Pavilion in San Jose, Calif. While it's likely that Henderson vs. Rua will take main event or co-main event status on the pay-per-view card, the position of the bout could not be confirmed.

| Lol, you beat me by 30 seconds!
This should be an awesome fight, Hendo's Greco and punching power against Shogun's Muay Thai and leg kicks. Tough one to predict!

| I think the pressure is really going to be on Henderson. He's the "new kid on the block" again with tools that are getting old.
I do question Shogun's heart so Henderson may be able to pressure him into folding.

| Awesome matchup! This is the best possible fight they could have done with Shogun coming off the Griffin victory. This one is very tough to call IMO, but if this fight stays on the feet it's all Shogun. Hendo has fallen in love with the standup too much and only really falls back on his wrestling at a last ditch effort. I see Shogun taking this to be honest, but I fear that H-bomb will tag Shogun sooner or later.
Oh and I hope to Satan this is a 5 round main event fight!

| damn it, two of my top 5 fighters. i dont know who to root for. i dont even know who has the advantage, maybe shogun, for reasons mentioned above. hendo like just to strike now and thinks he can hang with anybody but shogun is on a different level stand up. hendo has to dirty box him and take him down. take a page out of randys book. | |

| Wow I can't believe I'm not more excited about this fight a few years ago I'd have been going nuts for it but honestly ever since Dan got destroyed by a WW I've lost interest in him he's too one dimensional does he have a chance of course he has a punchers chance but at this point that's all he ever has whether it's against a top 5 opponent or a can he has the big right hand that could give him the KO but that's the only hope he ever has anymore. | |

Agree. Hendo has fallen in love with that right hand the last few years, and is content to live and die by it, without attempting anything else. And Shogun is just way to unpredictable lately. he may come and light it up, or he may come in and take a dump in the cage like he did against Forrest 1/Coleman/Jones. The thought of Hendo swinging blindly with his head down while Shogun backs up and clinches for 5 rounds while gasping for air seems to be stuck in my head. I wish this fight happened a long time ago.....

| I'm definitely going for Shogun... but Hendo has the possibility of controlling and wrestling Shogun and getting the decision.

| Damn, I disagree with most of you guys, this fight is awesome! I do agree with the inconstancy of Rua, but Dan losing one fight to Shields doesn't allow me to write him off. It was a bad night and he was plagued with injury... I'll let it slide once before I start assuming he has nothing more to offer. IDK who wins and I can't even choose who to root for... its a win/win lose/lose fight for me I guess. Also with this fight a true pattern has been formed for the SF guys: Come over fight a top 5 guy Win = Title shot | |

Also with this fight a true pattern has been formed for the SF guys: Come over fight a top 5 guy Win = Title shot I might have given Dan the benefit of the doubt had he campaigned for a rematch with Shields 1/10th as hard as he has for other rematches but the fact that he wants no part of a second fight makes me think that his talk of injury etc. is just a smoke screen to mitigate how badly he was humiliated.
