- In a monumental move that will lead countless keyboard warriors to assume Bellator Fighting Championships is destined for Spike TV, Bellator announced Tuesday that Spike.com will offer live streams of every Season 5 preliminary bout throughout their 12-week session.
The action kicks off this Saturday at Bellator 49 starting at 7PM ET/4PM PT, with MTV2′s broadcast of the main card airing at 9PM ET/PT.
Although they partnered with the UFC for six successful years, this marks the first time Spike.com has streamed live mixed martial arts events.
“We are thrilled to join forces with Spike.com,” said Bellator CEO Bjorn Rebney. “The Spike brand is synonymous with mixed martial arts worldwide and is another member of the MTV family, who does an incredible job in resonating with the hard-to-reach 18-to-34-year-old male audience.”
Spike’s two-hour stream isn’t the only thing that will be happening for the first time. EPIX will also provide a High-Definition simulcast of MTV2’s coverage. Fans have never been able to watch Bellator scraps in HD before.
Bellator 49 takes place inside the Caesar’s in Atlantic City, New Jersey and features four quarterfinal welterweight tournament bouts.
Here are the athletes competing in this weekend’s show:
Preliminary Bouts:
Kenny Foster vs. Andy Main
