Surprise, surprise!! Eddie Alvarez vs Conor McGregor to headline UFC 205 in New York

Whatever happens I just want it to be a complete one sided beatdown that lasts at least 2 rounds and then a spectacular finish.

Hopefully that will force Connor to finally pick a weight class then.

I hope eddies chin is in shape. he seems to get wobbled in almost every fight and conors precision, speed, and power could be a huge problem..

eddie better close the distance and smother the shit out of him.

however, it will be cool to see conor fight in the weight class he should be fighting in..

My question is "What happens if Conor loses?"

I don't see him going back to FW, nor do I see him voluntarily relinquishing the FW belt and suddenly going from possibly 2 belts to no belts. I also can't imagine him allowing himself to be put back in line at LW and working his way back to another title shot; he'll view that as being beneath him at this point.

So what does that leave? Very likely, it leads to something similar to where we are right now; Conor holding the FW title hostage, while Dana swears he's going to have to defend it or give it up, while in truth he's actually just stalling until somebody beats Alvarez and he can at least minimally justify giving Conor a crack at that fighter and another chance to hold both belts.

This nonsense isn't going to just go away on its own. Conor is going to need to get beaten badly several times before Dana stops thinking he can keep pulling the wool over our eyes.

Yep, that's exactly why I don't have a horse in this fight. As long as it is a completely onesided beatdown leaving no doubts at all in anyone's mind.

If it's close or Conor loses by eating a "lucky shot", then a rematch will just be par for the course.

this is embarrassing, ufc is not a sport but just a show.
and the funny thing is that most fans are ok with that. they keep saying that they just want to see exciting fights, with no regard for fairness or rankings. and they condone this behavior from dana and co with their rightful pursuit of money and viewerships. since when does making money justify unfairness and lack of dignity?
i think it is official, ufc has decided to go the boxing route of chasing big fights without any semblance of real structured sport and that is why ufc will get exactly the same  respect boxing does
im all for having great personalities in the mma, just like they did have in pride, but the sport cannot suffer for it. plus, im worried that fans in US only react to overly brash characters...just look at trump lol.

I don't necessarily mind making a super fight of sorts a few times a year.
What I don't like is when someone becomes bigger than the organization like Conor. And I don't get it either. Not sure why, but he doesn't have a quarter of the appeal as someone like Anderson Silva, Chuck Liddell, Wandy Silva, Rhonda Rousey, Fedor, etc, etc, had in their prime.

I also don't like it when there is a CLEAR #1 contender getting the shaft because of a super fight.
In this case I don't think that applies, but it has to end after this title fight.
Maybe Khabib has an argument for a title shot first, but I don't think he's available right now.
Aldo, should just have the belt and start defending it.
