Carwin tweeted late Tuesday night that he had his management contact UFC matchmaker Joe Silva, indicating that he was ready to fight again. He also posted in The Underground MMA forum, saying, “I had management let the UFC know I am considering a return and looking into what goes into that. Who would you like to see me face?”
Although a potential rematch with former heavyweight champ Brock Lesnar has likely evaporated following Lesnar’s two positive drug test results, Carwin, if healthy, could be a big boost to the UFC heavyweight division.
Arriving in the Octagon in 2008 with an 8-0 record, Carwin started his UFC tenure with four consecutive victories. The fourth of those victories resulted in him knocking out Frank Mir for the interim heavyweight title.
Carwin’s first defeat came in his next bout. He had Lesnar in deep trouble in the first round, knocking him down and unleashing a ground and pound barrage, but was unable to put him away. Carwin was out of steam to open the second round, and Lesnar quickly took him down and submitted him with an arm-triangle to unify their heavyweight championships.
Carwin then lost an epic three-round battle to Junior dos Santos in his next bout.
Following back surgery and a knee injury, Carwin left the sport entirely, announcing his retirement in early 2013.

| I'd give that to Carwin probably 7 out of 10 times.
Assuming he can avoid that ever menacing "full body cramp", that is. | |

| Never got to see Carwin vs Cain either. They kind of just passed by each other, even though the fight made sense at several different points.
I'd still like to see that. | |
