- After fighting at middleweight in his last outing, The Ultimate Fighter 17 winner Kelvin Gastelum wanted to return to the welterweight division. He will on Nov. 21 against fifth-ranked Matt Bown in the UFC Fight Night 78 main event.
The UFC officially announced the match-up on Tuesday.
Gastelum (11-1) missed weight in two of his last three fights in the 170-pound division, prompting the UFC to book him at middleweight. He’s 4-1 as a welterweight with his only loss coming by split decision to third-ranked Tyron Woodley. A win over Brown would put Gastelum right back in the mix at the top of the 170-pound weight class.
Brown (20-13) rebounded from back-to-back losses to champion Robbie Lawler and former titleholder Johny Hendricks with a first-round submission of Tim Means at UFC 189 on July 11. Prior to the two losses, Brown was on a seven-fight winning streak. He’ll be looking to expand on the win over Means when faces Gastelum.

| what a great fight.. i think they are evenly matched up. id give brown the edge cardio wise but this is a coin toss for me. nice match up tho | |
