- “…I was asked to fight again May 30 but didn’t feel ready and this Rio de Janeiro show (where he’ll face Mauricio Rua at UFC 134) was the next available card for me after that. I could have been fine to fight anytime in July and maybe even late June, but I wouldn’t have been ready in May.
I’ve been in the UFC for more than six years, but I ain’t got it figured out when it comes to training and training camps. In fact, I think I’m doing everything wrong and I think for my next fight I’m gonna go somewhere for five or six weeks and see what they do. Maybe to AKA or somewhere where there are a lot of guys slightly smaller than me.
…
It quit being fun when I realized I wasn’t getting better. I’m plateauing or almost getting worse sometimes. One of the essential elements to have in this is your perceived expectation of the future, and I’m a painful realist, so I realized that I’m not going to get better; this is it. It’s only gonna get worse from here on and you fight as much as you can, you fight until you don’t have it anymore, and then you fight a couple more times after that.” BJPenn.com He's right, Forrest hasn't improved much since he beat Rampage for the title. A change of scenery would definitely do him some good.

| Yeah, there just hasn't been much growth as of recent... where has he been at all this time? Extreme Couture? | |

| problem with forrest is that he will always be forrest. you can't teach a dog new tricks.
some people are gifted fighters and some just have to work that little bit harder to be even considered a fighter. forrest falls in the latter catagory. even though i would love to see him fight on strong and even make another run at the title, i don't see him physically being able to.
although he's got size, he's now too slow to make a dent on the new faster and agile 205'ers. we know he has pillow for fists cause when was the last time he really caused significant damge on his feet. as much as we love seeing him in brawls, he just does have the chin for it anymore. people talk about his BJJ, but we rarely see it.
to be honest, the only time that Forrest showed visible changes to this game plan and style was the Hector Ramirez where he start showing better footwork and became alot conservative and intellegent with his attacks. that style kinda carried him through to a record of 4-2 in his last 6 bouts, bout look at who the two loses were against - the quicker Rashad and Anderson.
anyway, long rant, but i don't see forrest making any vast improvement no matter which camp he does decide to go to. they may give him a better game plan, but the forrest we know and seen will be the same forrest that will appear after Buffer finishes his announcement.

| Yeah, Forrest should try it over at Jacksons camp and see what happens. He hasnt improved his skills in years. | |

| I actually think ATT would be the best camp for Forrest. He is such a big LHW I think he could really utalize the clench well if he improves his Muay Thai. | |

| I hate to say it ... but I think Forrest is done. If these quotes are a peek into his mind-set he's lost that fire and belief he can win. The long-run after getting beaten by Anderson gave us a big clue to the beginning of the end.
I think Jackson could help him get his head on straight ... if that's what he wants.

| To be honest, to me this is just Forrest being Forrest. The guy is always his worse critic. He jokes on himself and when it is coming out of his mouth to your ears it comes across funny. When it comes off the page to your eyes it doesn't have the same effect.
He's gonna fight with the same mindset that he has always fought with. Nothing has changed there. He is what he is and that is a simply a fighter. I am not worried about Forrest at all. If things line up right for him he will get his shot at that belt again.
