War Machine pleads not guilty in Las Vegas, will face trial in February

Former UFC and Bellator MMA fighter War Machine today plead not guilty to a variety of charges stemming from an alleged attack against former girlfriend Christy Mack and her friend, Corey Thomas. The 32-year-old today appeared at Nevada’s Clark County District Court to enter the pleas. The fighter remains incarcerated and faces 34 felony counts, including strangulation, sexual assault, kidnapping, coercion and burglary. War Machine (14-5), formerly known as Jon Koppenhaver, had a brief stint with the UFC following his run on “The Ultimate Fighter 6″ reality series. He most recently fought in October 2013, when he suffered a loss to Ron Keslar in the semifinal round of Bellator’s Season 9 welterweight tournament. On Aug. 8, War Machine allegedly assaulted Mack, while in her home with Thomas. According to a report subsequently unsealed by the Clark County (Nev.) District Attorney’s Office, the assault left Mack with two missing teeth, a blowout orbital fracture, a lacerated liver, swelling and bruises. After a brief manhunt, War Machine was arrested on Aug. 15 at a hotel in Simi Valley, Calif, after being found with “a small quantity of cash and some pizza.” He was later extradited to Nevada to face the charges levied against him. In October, War Machine was found unresponsive in his cell after a failed suicide attempt. wrote:

a part of me feels like maybe mack is fabricating some of the story. theres no question what he did was wrong, extreme, insane however, what really went on? mack has changed her story saying at first that he broke into her house and she barely escaped running naked covered in blood to a neighbors house to call police. then in her court testimony and correct me if im wrong she said that she was sleeping in bed with another guy but she somehow was in warmachines car or something to that nature. when stories change it seems fishy to me. the facts are warmachine fucked her up pretty bad. what kind of damage was done to the other guy? i feel like mack is also putting on a front in court it seems staged. the media also completely destroys the persuasion of many. i know warmachine is a loose cannon, a thug, a complete asshole but that might also be the whole thing that everyone will buy into. no one will ever really know what happened except for the three of them but it just seems fishy that her story has changed and there hasnt been a peep from the third person involved. do any of you guys think war machine was provoked or maybe something was instigated some how? or do you think she is 100% innocent and warmachine was just being the complete douche we know him to be

Well War Machine is in fact a complete douche and a sorry excuse for a human being, but that doesn't mean Mack isn't likely being at least a little untruthful. It's been documented that her story has changed several times (either by lying intentionally or just remembering things differently as time goes on, which is a common occurrence), but that doesn't change the fact War Machine deserves all the punishment that he gets for what he did.
Regardless of what she's lying about, I'm pretty sure she didn't beat herself into a bloody pulp.
