I never even pay attention to those things any more, the UFC has severely underwhelmed with big announcements like this in the past...

Well, the way I see it is this; we know it is something that is outside of the UFC's officiating or what have you. They didn't have full control of the situation or they would have made the announcement... which to me means the signing of a big name from outside the organization or the full purchase of Invicta.

I still say it could've been GSP coming back. Or possibly the signing of Lesnar or Carano.
It's gotta be one of those three.

cant be lesnar because his contract with wwe, carano doesnt pose a big enough threat to rousey and she hasnt fought in what 3 years, and gsp is definitely coming back its just a matter of time so i dont think it would be any of those 3.

Oh don't get me wrong, I don't think Carano coming to the UFC is noteworthy whatsoever. But Dana seems to think that's an earth-shattering idea that makes the MMA world stand up and applaud until their collective hands bleed. It would fit into the category of what Dana thinks is press conference-worthy. Thats the only reason I thought that might be the announcement.

Brocks WWE contract is up in March... maybe they were trying to finagle a Pre-signing announcement deal but WWE said no go...
