- Prior to Saturday night’s UFC 133
main event between Rashad Evans and Tito Ortiz, reigning light heavyweight king Jon Jones predicted his friend-turned-foe would beat Ortiz via “dry hump.” While Jones chose the correct winner, the violent fashion in which Evans steamrolled Ortiz was the complete opposite of an uneventful lay and pray victory.
After Evans viciously put “The Huntington Beach Bad Boy” down to earn next dibs at the 205-crown, Jones didn’t seem too impressed with his performance. In fact, he claimed Evans revealed the “same stuff” he’d previously seen from his former training partner.
“That’s fine. I mean, if it’s the same old stuff then that means that’s probably exactly why he didn’t want to fight me the first time,” Evans matter-of-factly stated at the post-fight press conference. “Jon knows what happened when we trained [together]. He knows that if I’m focused and I’m strong and I’m healthy, then he knows he’s got a fight on his hands.
“Jon’s a tough guy. Jon’s the champion, but I know what he’s weak at and he knows what I’m weak at. We’ll see who covers up their weak areas first.”
Evans not only bumped his resume up to 16-1-1 after last night’s outing, but he also advanced to face either Jones or Quinton “Rampage” Jackson for the light heavyweight belt. When asked who he’d like to see leave UFC 135 with the bling-bling, Evans made no bones about wanting to fight “Bones.”
“I would prefer to get [the title] from Jones,” Evans flatly stated. “He’s so cocky. You think I’m cocky? I’m on-camera-joking-around cocky. He’s for-real cocky. He’s like go-to-sleep-praising-himself cocky.
“I would love to teach him a lesson. If he makes it past Rampage, I’ll have a chance to do that. I think Rampage should train in my camp for this fight.”
It appears Evans now places Jones’ narcissism up there with NFL wide receiver Terrell Owens, who unforgettably told television cameras, “I love me some me!”
UFC 135 takes place September 25th inside the Pepsi Center in Denver, Colorado. Best believe Evans will be sitting front row taking extensive notes on Jones. It seems he already has the CliffsNotes on Rampage, particularly since Evans just posted a lopsided unanimous decision win over him 15 months ago.
“He has a tough fight with Rampage,” Evans expressed. 5th Round So if these two ever fight who do you think takes it?

| Rashad will definitely win the war of words.
however, in the fight, it may be a different story

| I'm not a big fan of Jones yet...he seems too cocky and full of himself. But I AM however on the Jones train. The dude is a beast, I forsee him being the new Anderson Silva...who's gonna beat this guy? It maybe really premature to be thinking this way, but I'm super impressed with his abilities in the cage thus far. | |

| You're not a champ until you defend your title. I really believe this... Tito defended the title five time after beating Wandy.... What has Rashad done? He lost the title the first chance he got to a shit-kicking by Machida.
I believe Jones will defend his title ... maybe this will shut Rashad up.... naw.

| Alls I know is I'm a fan of anyone who shuts up Rashad. So in a few months, I'll be Jon Jones's biggest fan. The dude seems for real, he has nasty elbows and strikes, good takedowns and top control. He needs to be fine-tuned a bit so his flashiness doesn't get him into trouble but other than that he doesn't seem to have a lot of weak points. Maybe Rampage will put him on his back and test his bjj? | |

| Wow, the poll is insanely tight... I figured Jones was gonna walk away with the votes. | |
