Any thoughts on the main event. I thought that was about as evenly matched a fight as there could be. I knew I was going to feel bad for whatever guy lost that decision. I'd been drinking a bunch on Saturday and had people over while I was watching the fight. The only two rounds that seemed obvious to me was Round 1 to Thomson and Round 3 to Henderson. I can't believe one judge had it 4-1 rounds for Henderson. BTW, the Sherdog Play-by-Play judges were Unanimous at 49-46 Thomson.

I'm usually one of the people screaming about it when there was a close fight and the judges botched the score. I'm seeing a lot of press about how Thompson got robbed, but this time I honestly didn't see it that way. It was definitely close, and I wouldn't have been overly shocked if they gave Thompson the nod, but after I watched it and saw them give it to Henderson, I just kind of went "meh" and didn't even really give it a second thought. I was actually surprised the next day when I checked a few sites and saw all the uproar about it.
With that said, why do we always up having these conversations about Henderson's fights? The guy does have a few solid, definitive wins, but it seems like almost every time he fights lately there's a very strong case for the other guy winning. Must just be his style or something, but man, there's clearly a theme developing.

My guess is that it happens more frequently to guys that have gone to decision 90% of their last 10 fights.

And 3 out of his last 4 were split decisions at that.
I hate watching GSP fight, but at least there's very seldom any question as to who won when he goes to decision (barring his most recent fight, of course). You would think at least once in all of these SD and close UD Henderson fights he would lose. It's just strange. How can a guy be on the winning side of so many controversial decisions without losing one?

I thought it was a good card.
Sergio Pettis vs. Alex Cacereas- Was a good back and forth fight ,both guys looked good throwing all kinds of crazy kicks. I liked Sergio ,but have thought that people have been slightly putting more stock in him than he's earned as of yet. I screamed FUCK! so FUCKING LOUD when he tapped with only about 20 seconds left. One thing that sort of worried/worries me about Sergio is that he takes a little bit too many strikes than he should have to and I don't mean this as an excuse, but it always seems like if he an inch or two more on his arms or legs he would be catching guys a lot more. I mean it seems like he's always so close to rocking people ,but just a little too fucking short.
Donald Cerrone vs. Adriano Martins- Martins was doing good at first with his strikes and Cerrone was just throwing some kicks to the legs and gut setting up Martins for the end. With like 10 seconds left in the first he blasted Martins with a head kick picking up the KO.
Nikita Krylov vs. Walt Harris- Krylov came out early throwing leg and body kicks and then similar to Cowboy knocked Harris out with a head kick in the first.
Gabriel Gonzaga vs. Stipe Miocic- Gonzaga took the first round landing good punches and kicks alternating with the latter between body, head, and legs. After that though he gassed and Miocic started outboxing him for the last two rounds, taking the UD.
Ben Henderson vs. Josh Thomson- I thought this was a good back and forth technical fight. Thomson kept getting bodylock takedowns and locking in the body triangle with the RNC attempts. Bendo was getting the better of the striking mainly to the body and he had a good active guard. That being said I was talking about it with one of my friends earlier and we both sort of agreed that he's one of those guys in the Chael Sonnen camp who are their own worse enemy. Bendo use to be an aggressive, dynamic wrecking machine who was always being active and/or going for the finish in various ways ,but really the only times he's looked like that in his past six fights were the first one with Edgar and his fight with Diaz. He also has looked significantly smaller his past two fights, but you never really know with physiques. He's got weapons and will be winning a fight ,but then just sort of gets too complacent and lackadaisical. I mean he's had incredibly close fights that could've gone either way with Edgar (2nd fight), Melendez, and now Thomson. I still love Bendo ,but am wondering what happened?

I've noticed the same thing about his size (specifically his upper legs). They used to be cartoon like. His last couple of fights they look much more normal. Maybe he's been having difficulty cutting so had to reduce some muscle mass on his legs. Or, he's just doing a ton more cardio now.

Here's my question, why was Bendo only able to barely squeak out a SD against an injured Thomson? He fucked his hand up in the first... I can only assume he would have done much better with 2 good hands.
Also, has anyone seen Gabes hand, also broke in the 1st HOLY SHIT!

I know swelling is legit for example a friend of mine beating a dude's balls until they were the size of fucking grapefruits, but still there's something about seeing it visually man.

Well since you put it that way, yeah, I know all I need to know. Except how did you come about knowing the size of the balls after said beating?

Gabe seems to be one of the biggest wastes of natural talent in the heavyweight division. and Cerrone will always be that gatekeeper for the top 3-5 unless he starts being more fluid in his movement. too stiff and willing to take hard shots to land his. awesome head kick though.

Gonzaga was so much better as a grappler. However, since he landed that headkick to Cro Cop, he thinks he's a boxer in every fight.
