White said during a media conference call that the fight was prematurely announced, and was never a "done deal" for the Super Bowl weekend event. Instead, it will take place sometime later in 2014.
The fight had been announced for UFC 169 via a report from Newsday, which also announced that the Frank Mir-Alistair Overeem bout had been shifted to that event. But that card will now receive a different main event.

| Hmm, then who headlines?
It's a big event, so I'd imagine it would have to be a title fight, but I don't know of any without a set date already. Move Cain/JDS or Silva/Weidman to Super Bowl weekend? | |
