LAS VEGAS, Nev. - Former light heavyweight champion Forrest Griffin has announced his retirement from the UFC.
Griffin made his announcement Saturday night after UFC 160.
Griffin has fought just three times since November 2009 while struggling with multiple injuries. He beat Tito Ortiz in what turned out to be both veterans' final fight at UFC 148 last July.
UFC President Dana White says Griffin will work for the promotion.
Griffin gained fame on the first season of "The Ultimate Fighter," the UFC's reality show. He finished with a spectacular victory over Stephan Bonnar in April 2005 in a fight widely considered the most important in UFC history.

| Looks like a front office job for Forrest. Not much of a surprise however, not even TRT could fend off father time. Glad to see him go with brain cells intact for the most part. | |

| I'm not sure that Forrest came in to the sport with a large amount of brain cells to begin with, but hey if Dana can find a front office job for Chuck then I think Forrest will fit right in. He made a good run of it and was always a classy guy and a good competitor. | |

| Glad to see Forrest go out before he was put out. Entertaining character to say the least...but that's really all I can say about him. | |

I don't remember him running out of the cage. He was definitely crying after he lost to Jardine but big effing deal, he's passionate about his job and he just lost a big fight. As far as ruining anything that Tito does, that's class points for anybody IMO. What I meant was that he was always down to earth and approachable and always had time for the fans. I distinctly remember FistK going to a UFC fan expo event before the Forrest vs. Rashad fight and commenting on the night and day difference between the two of them. Forrest was high fiving little kids, signing everything and taking pics all over the place, Rashad had glasses and headphones on, didn't move from his chair and barely talked to anyone. If that's any measure of class at all then Forrest wins. | |
