Jones just can't STFU! Says Henderson should “Shut up and be grateful you dodged a bullet”

You’re sitting at home with ice on your knee and I’m here doing pushups. You should shut up and be grateful you dodged a bullet.”

Pretty harsh stuff from a guy who until very recently seemed to be overly sensitive to public criticism. He came across as a guy who was very conscious that his public perception wasn’t the best—and it seemed to bother him. Could he be running with the hate now? I wrote an article last December giving an opinion not many people agreed with. It was following his devastating submission over Lyoto Machida. I suggested that by dropping the former champion to the mat unceremoniously, he stopped too soon. I argued that in order to gain an identity—and make millions of dollars—he should have looked at Lyoto with disdain and spat on his unconscious body.

He didn’t do that. Instead he went through the attempts to improve his image—none of them worked. He got a DUI, made several statements in the public that weren’t well received and in general, began to show some signs of wearing down in the spotlight. Fans didn’t respond well. Now he sits, almost a year later, still looking for fans. I don’t think they’re coming. No matter what the circumstances, trashing a 42 year old MMA legend in print won’t help.

Nah ... I think Testosterone Deficient Dan did dodge a bullet here. Jon was going to hurt TRT Dan baaaaad. My vote would have been retirement due to physical trauma.

what bullet? Dan would have been beaten, probably, but murder by the hands of jones it would not have been. dodging a bullet is a statement that assumes hendo is somewhat afraid or like an amateur, has no business being in the same realm with jones. hendo has been in there with the best and held his own, so, claiming that he would be embarrassed is premature.

although, going into that fight, dan being one of my favourite fighters, i was afraid of exactly the same thing.

I figured Jones would pull another Shields except with more power in his GnP. Either way I just want to see a good fight.

Ahhhh.....sorry, but I agree with him here.
He's right. Hendo is kind of indirectly lucky here, by not having to get thrashed just yet.

Regardless, I think this is more a matter of Jones coming apart than it is him embracing the heel role.

He's young, he's immature, and he is not dealing with adversity very well. For the first time (more or less), he is being viewed in a negative light....and it's fucking with him big time. That's why he's firing off like this.

Expect to see a lot more of this in the next few weeks.
