FFS!! Report: Anderson Silva Suffered Possible Training Injury

Excuse? it seems to me that he went out of his way to great lengths to ensure everybody that he's OK.

I don't know. I would have to see what he said in context. All that is said in the article is that he revealed he had a knee injury. I would be interested to see what brought that up.

After his last fight against Sonnen his manager revealed he had a "rib innjury" and couldnt train well and now he has a "knee injury", but "dont worry my faithful fans, i will train through it and make it to the fight no matter what."

Naw why can't a fighter say he hurt his knee when he hurt his knee? Injuries happen all the time in training. Its a wait and see thing.... so why not wait and see ? Unless you are a hater just waiting to jump on anything that comes up...... but we have no haters here who just wait drooling on the sidelines for their most hated fighters to screw up....

All hate aside, an excuse is just that. No matter who/when/where or why it was made; it was made. If anything I would think you would wanna keep that shit under wraps, just to not give the opponent an upper hand....

It sounds like your definitions of "excuse" and "information" are the exact same.

I just think it's a little bit of a reach to say that a fighter mentioning he had a minor injury in training is a preemptive excuse in case he loses.
Then again, I don't hate Anderson Silva.

Yes, and when the time does come, I want you to remember one thing;
This goes both ways.
If Silva loses, you're gonna get to rip apart the first person who tries to use the injury as an excuse for the loss, and be able to say I told you so if Silva himself uses it as an excuse. But on the flipside, if Sonnen loses, you can bet your ass that I am gonna take every opportunity to rub it in your face that Silva beat Sonnen twice while injured.

When was the last time a fighter went into a fight 100%?

Is the fight going to be canceled, because of this injury? If not I don't see what purpose it serves to mention it.

Could just be trying to brain fuck Sonnen. Quite possible there is nothing wrong with his knee.

I personally prefer when a fighter doesn't disclose injuries at all, because like Fistk said, none of them are ever 100% healthy, anyway. But if they are going to mention an injury, I'd prefer to hear about it pre fight as opposed to post fight. Post fight injury disclosure just rubs me the wrong way, especially if the guy lost.

This case sounds to me like he was letting everyone know that it might be serious, but he's not sure yet (i.e. he hadn't seen a doctor yet about it), so he was just laying out a warning that the fight may possibly be in jeopardy. Then, when he got cleared by a doctor, he went out of his way to say "Hey don't worry everybody. Everything's fine! I'll be there."
